FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (Sept. 3, 2015) -- "The Science of Leadership and Art of Gaining Followers," is slated to be held in Thurman Hall, Wednesday and Sept. 10, with Warren Blank, president of The Leadership Group, out of Vero Beach, Florida, instructing.

This training is designed for audiences of Department of Defense civilians in the grades of GS-07 to GS-15 (or equivalent), and service members in ranks of staff sergeant to colonel.

According to Blank, this course teaches the perspective that "enables participants to take the lead at all organizational levels," enhancing overall organizational effectiveness even the unique workplace of civilians supporting the military.

"The program focuses on how DOD civilians can influence beyond authority, gain commitment based on an assessment of their environment, and communicate with credibility," Blank said. "These skills are essential to work within the military chain of command to support the warfighter."

One training participant is attending this course to add to her skills as she completes her degree.

"I was excited to see this course offered because I am a student at Drury University and my major is organizational communication and development," said Tammy Palmer, maintenance coordinator, Logistics Readiness Center.

The two-day seminar will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Thurman Hall, Building 3203, Room 3081.

Registration is required and can be submitted until the day before training.
