WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Army Military District of Washington brings Spirit of America to the nation's capital this September for the first time in four years. The FREE two-hour show uniquely combines traditional military ceremony with a large-scale theatrical production that showcases military discipline, historical reenactments, and traditional and modern music.

Join us in celebrating the spirit, strength and history of our nation with nine performances scheduled across two weekends Sept. 10-12, at the D.C. Armory in Washington, D.C., and Sept. 18-19, in Fairfax, Va.

Spirit of America is a fast-paced journey that captures 240 years of Soldiers' stories -- true stories that span generations of men and women who have answered the call to uphold America's freedom and democracy. Soldiers dressed in authentic historic uniforms perform dramatic reenactments from the American Revolution through current operations demonstrating the vital role the U.S. Army played in building our nation and how the Army continues that role today.

This patriotic live show is performed by a cast and crew of active-duty Soldiers, not actors, from The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" and the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard).

Spirit of America presents our nation's history, common values and American musical heritage.

"It is a show for all ages and I highly recommend this show for students in grades 5-12," said Ron McLendon II, U.S. Army Military District of Washington community relation director. "With three shows specially scheduled to accommodate field trips and group outings, and a comprehensive educator's guide available online at www.spiritofamerica.mdw.army.mil ."

Spirit of America performances are FREE and open to the public. For more information, and to order your tickets, visit www.spiritofamerica.mdw.army.mil or call 1-866-239-9425.
