Eight teams took part in the Darby Military Community Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers sponsored a kickball tournament Aug. 21 at Camp Darby softball field.

"DMC BOSS had a great opportunity to host a joint service competition to instill pride and a sense of community during a time of transition for post," said Spc. Christopher Gribble, DMC BOSS president.

The teams represented the units/shops of DMC. They were: 839th Trans Bn., PM (Precision Maintenance), the Storage, Team Grandpa, Prestige Worldwide, SrA Powerwall, Dip Spit and the Darby Misfits.

"This event allowed community members to network and create a positive atmosphere to increase morale and welfare across all organizations within the community while encouraging an active physical lifestyle," said Gribble.

He added that the BOSS program plan to host quarterly sports events like this tournament. Look for more BOSS kickball this fall.

"With all of the changes coming to the DMC, the BOSS program wants members to know we will still be here to host events and programs to (maintain) good quality of life here on base," said Sarah Galon, sports and fitness director here. "By promoting physical activity we hope to boost morale and promote esprit de corps for every service and community member."

The SrA Powerwall team were the winners of this year's summer tournament. The next BOSS event will take place in October with a fall dodgeball tournament.
