Fort Knox, Ky. -- In order to maintain an agile and ready force, Soldiers are required to be physically fit.
The 94th Training Division's two-week Master Fitness Trainers Course at Fort Knox, Ky., teaches all aspects of the Army's Physical Readiness Training Program.
Students learn to be consultants regarding physical readiness issues and monitors of individual physical readiness programs.
"When students leave here they are expected to be the advisor to the commander and [be] that link between physical and medical readiness," said Staff Sgt. Nicholas Rice, a course instructor. "They go back to their units better informed and equipped to conduct PRT the correct way."
The course also teaches performance nutrition, reconditioning, rehabilitation and proper exercising techniques designed to avoid injuries.
"If you are not doing the exercise right you are not going to get anything out of it," said Sgt. Toby Maratita, Food Service Specialist, 529th Regimental Support Company.
"It was an amazing experience," Maratita added. "I'm glad I came. I'm now able to take back beneficial tools to my Soldiers. I can share proper techniques for conducting PRT and information from the dietitians and nutritionist to help them maintain good physical health."
This course, which is available to Active duty and Reserve Soldiers, as well as National Guardsmen, is geared toward the Army's requirement of having one Master Fitness trainer per unit down to company level.
"I would like to see more Soldiers attend this training school, said Rice, I've seen how it makes a big difference in people's lives."
