YONGSAN, Republic of Korea -- The Logistics Readiness Center-Yongsan Personal Property Processing Office (PPPO) implemented a new program to improve efficiencies for people shipping household goods, saving an estimated annual cost of $11,000 in labor hours, according to the program's director.

The trial run began in June and has enabled the PPPO to increase the amount of customers they are able to service while reducing the number of required counselors.

The LRC manages nearly 7,000 personal property shipments annually with a combined weight of more than 9.9 million pounds for all Service members, Department of Defense personnel and their families.

According to the LRC-Yongsan director, Eunju Grohmann, the current system for inputting household goods information -- www.Move.mil -- can be difficult to navigate.

"We have simply created a smart sheet for our customers, based on move.mil, and now provide a group counseling… along with answering individual customers' concerns and issues," Grohmann said. "By doing this, we can process a lot more customers than with one-on-one counseling appointments."

Each group counseling session requires two counselors who work as a team to help up to 19 unaccompanied personnel and 19 accompanied personnel daily.

"Excellent patience and service," said Col. Michael Hammond, U.S. Air Force, Pacific Command. "Very much appreciate the support!"

Individual counseling is still available for special category and emergency situation customers.

"Innovative and effective measure of the initiative is a true statement of integration into the future of the Army" said Col. Jordan Chroman, 403rd Army Field Support Brigade commander.

LRC-Yongsan is a subordinate element of the 403rd Army Field Support Brigade, U.S. Army Sustainment Command. It is one of 71 LRCs under ASC.
