ALYTAUS, Lithuania -- U.S. Army Europe and the Lithuanian Land Forces signed a memo of understanding outlining the two armies' shared strategic vision for future bilateral cooperation in a ceremony, here, July 5.
The memo, which was signed by Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, commanding general, U.S. Army Europe, and Maj. Gen. Almantas Leika, commander of the Lithuanian Land Forces, hopes to maintain and demonstrate the nations' shared commitment to NATO, and enhance the ability of both parties to conduct future coalition operations led by the U.S. or NATO.
As part of the militaries' shared strategic vision, Army Europe and the Lithuanian Land Forces recognize the close level of cooperation they have developed over the past two years, and acknowledge that both armies face growing security challenges in Europe. The two armies remain eager to advance their military partnership and maximize engagement opportunities.
