Fort Huachuca, Arizona - Fort Huachuca's U.S. Electronic Proving Ground (EPG) welcomed its new Commander, Col. Donald "Brent" Wilhide at the change of command ceremony at Brown Parade Field Wednesday.

Maj. Gen. Daniel L. Karbler, commanding general, U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, passed the command colors from outgoing Commander, Col. Raymond K. Compton to Wilhide signifying the official change of command for the mission here.

Karbler commended Compton on his leadership of EPG, saying "He not only has the expertise, depth and knowledge for programs, and how they impact the Army, but [he] also has an incredible way with [people in the community]."

Karbler introduced Wilhide, stating "[His] experience is vast in programs and software engineering. He was an assignment officer and very active in the community--[he's] the right person for the job."

"I look forward to working with the EPG team and the Fort Huachuca community, at large," said Wilhide, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland.

Wilhide enlisted in the Army in 1989 as a Signal Soldier. After serving in the Headquarters Department of the Army as Deputy Chief of Staff Plans and programs and resourcing as a program analyst, he graduated from Senior Service College at Fort McNair, Washington, D.C., in 2015 earning a Master of Science in National Security and Resource Strategy from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School.

Compton, who commanded EPG for the last two years, will be going to the War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

He said he knows Fort Huachuca's EPG family will continue to push the envelope to ensure Soldiers receive the best and safest equipment for them.

"When you leave here, you're not only leaving your unit, but a tight knit family," Compton said.
