ARLINGTON, Virginia (June 25, 2015) -- Maj. Gen. Bruce T. Crawford, Commanding General of Communications-Electronics Command and Aberdeen Proving Ground Senior Commander was the keynote speaker at the 10th Annual Federal Business Forum & Expo in Arlington, Virginia sponsored by the Minority Enterprise Advocate (MEA)Magazine. Crawford also accepted the "Leadership & Excellence Award" on behalf of the Commanding General of U.S. Army Materiel Command, Gen. Dennis L. Via. At the event, Crawford advocated for innovation, opportunities and the importance of collaboration in alignment with AMC's priority of establishing Public/Private Partnerships to sustain the Army in tomorrow's complex environment.

There were informative discussions on workforce development, software sustainment and the strategic importance of what Gen. Via calls, "our National Security Insurance policy" - the Organic Industrial Base.

"Few things are more important than the trusted relationships we have with business and industry partners in sustaining our competitive advantage as a nation," said Crawford.

"I want to personally thank the leadership and organizers of MEA for continuing to bring together key stakeholders to share ideas for the future," he said.

"The next evolutionary change or advancement will be driven by the first one to the whiteboard with the best ideas. As you depart this forum and reflect on what you have learned, please know that from my perspective, you truly have been and will continue to be our competitive advantage."

Crawford said it was truly an inspirational engagement full of energetic Small and Minority Business leaders who care deeply about their contributions to our Army and this great Nation.

Besides Gen. Via, the awards ceremony of the forum also recognized 50 technology business executives.

In attendance included federal, state and local agencies and private industry representatives from manufacturing; IT; cyber security; healthcare IT; and telecommunications.
