HUNT VALLEY, Md. (June 22, 2015) -- The U.S. Army announced the winning teams of the 13th annual eCYBERMISSION STEM competition in an awards ceremony June 19.

eCYBERMISSION is a web-based STEM competition for sixth- through ninth-grade students designed to develop solutions to real-world challenges in their communities, according to Louie R. Lopez, eCYBERMISSION program manager.

"The U.S. Army is committed to providing students with engaging and innovative STEM competitions like eCYBERMISSION," Lopez said. "The accomplishments and talent of the students in the program are immeasurable. Congratulations to all national winners and STEM-in-Action grant recipients for their hard work and taking the challenge."

Savings Bonds (matured value), in addition to the $1,000 awarded to them as state winners, $1,000 awarded as a regional finalist and $2,000 as regional first-place winners.

Since the program's inception in 2002, eCYBERMISSION has awarded state, regional and national competition winners more than $10 million in U.S. Savings Bonds (matured value).

Five teams were awarded the AEOP STEM-In-Action grants. The national judges selected these $5,000 awards based on which teams proposed implementation plans prove their projects provide the greatest possible impact within their communities, according to Lopez.
