FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. (June 18, 2015) -- The U.S. Army Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear School will host the annual Chemical Regimental week, from Saturday through June 27 at Fort Leonard Wood.

This year's theme is "Dragon Soldiers -- America's CBRN Counterforce."

"As we transition from being at war for the past 14 years, we have an opportunity to shape our future to best meet the needs of our Army, joint force and how best to defend the homeland," said Col. Scott Kimmell, USACBRNS assistant commandant. "Dragon Soldiers are performing magnificently across our Army and around the world."

"Events such as our regimental week allow us to all come together, share experiences and develop a collective path forward for our corps," he said.

Activities for the week include a regimental run, state-of-the-regiment and cake-cutting ceremony hosted by the USACBRNS Commandant and 28th Chief of Chemical, Brig. Gen. Maria Gervais, there will be a Sibert Award presentation, Hall of Fame/Distinguished Member of the Corps Induction ceremony, CBRN enterprise update, "Honor to Our Fallen" Sunrise Service and the Green Dragon Ball.

"Central to the success of the week will be several key events focused on the future of the corps, primarily the "How We Support the Fight Seminar," Kimmell said. "Chemical officers and noncommissioned officers from around the Army will discuss topics of significant importance to best ensure the survivability of the force in a CBRN environment."

The Chemical Corps Regimental Association plans to hold a golf scramble, the 2015 Joint CBRN Defense Exhibition, a barbecue and a 5k fun run to coincide with the observance of the 97th anniversary of the regiment.

"Events such as the exhibition and barbecue create a backdrop for interaction, and this interaction is a victory for the regiment," Kimmell said.

A tour for spouses is planned from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Spouses will visit the Physical Endurance Confidence Course at Training Area 98 and experience what it's like to wear a Level-A hazmat suit, during a stop at the Lt. Joseph Terry CBRN Responder Facility.

The Chemical Corps Regiment will pay tribute to fallen Soldiers during the Honor to Our Fallen Sunrise Service from 6 to 7 a.m. June 25 at the Memorial Grove. This event is open to the public.
