2015 Mangudai week launched with Backbone University, hosted on USAG Yongsan. Divided into two phases, the week focused heavily on the challenges that both junior and senior enlisted leaders have to face. 'Mangudai' are Mongolian warriors, dating back to the 13th century. The first two days of the Mangudai in Korea consisted of the "Backbone University": where junior enlisted participated in a series of physical training and education provided by senior enlisted leaders. Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti, United Nations Command, Combined Forces Korea, U.S. Forces Korea Commander gave a special visit to the class for invigorating remarks to the junior enlisted. USFK Command Sgt. Maj. John W. Troxell, Yongsan Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Henney M. Hodgkins and many senior enlisted leaders participated in the classes to inspire and encourage the soldiers.
