ESCHENBACH, Germany -- Students from Netzaberg Elementary School and about 150 families participated in a Comic-Con, April 16, in U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria.

The comic-con is a superhero-themed event. It gets its name from the Comic-Com International, which is a nonprofit educational corporation dedicated to creating an appreciation for comics, according to its website at Comic-Con.org.

At the Comic-Con here, students brought their families to enjoy a night of fun and food.

The Comic-Con was created last year, but everybody liked it so much that faculty members and teachers made it possible for it to be an annual event each year.

Students participated in a number of different activities such as bowling, and created their own superheroes using Legos and Playdoh.

In addition to the activities, students could purchase items provided by the Booster Club, such as root beer floats, popcorn and nachos. Students also had their pictures taken with Superman.

There were about 25 teachers at Comic-Con. When fifth-grade teacher Micheal Wright, who played the role of Superman, was asked if he liked being dressed up and participating in Comic-Con, he said "It's super!"

Physical Education teacher David Gray had a shovel man game, along with many other volunteers running a number of board games.

Event organizer, second-grade teacher Cindy Turner, was pleased all the volunteers that came out to help with Comic-Con. Judging by the smiles on everyone's face, it was a great success.
