MEDIA ADVISORY: JFK Special Warfare Center and School to Change Command

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, April 29, 2015) -- Maj. Gen. Eric P. Wendt will relinquish command of the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School to Maj. Gen. James B. Linder during a 10 a.m. ceremony at Fort Bragg's JFK Plaza on May 4.

Wendt has commanded the USAJFKSWCS, the U.S. Army's Special Operations Center of Excellence, since May 2014, with a follow-on assignment as the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army Pacific Command. Linder is returning stateside after completing an assignment as the Commander of Special Operations Command-Africa.

The U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School serves as the doctrinal proponent and training center for the Army's Civil Affairs, Psychological Operations and Special Forces Soldiers. The USAJFKSWCS is responsible for the assessment and selection, qualification courses, language and advanced training courses for Army special operations forces.

It maintains its headquarters and many classroom courses at Fort Bragg, with field training units at Camp Mackall, and various advanced courses such as combat diver training in Key West, Fla., and military free-fall in Yuma, Ariz.
