REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala.--Army Contracting Command Soldiers and employees have a new, one-stop tool to help employees get help, especially in times of crisis, according to the command's safety manager.

ACC CARES or Combined Advocacy, Reporting and Education System, pops up on a user's computer screen when they log onto the ACC SharePoint site, explained Greg Berge. It's a one-stop location for links to helping agencies, he said. It's located at https://acc.aep.army.mil/Safety/default_popup_window.aspx.

He said the death of an ACC Soldier caused him to ask himself what he could have done to prevent the death.

"I started doing some research and found that, yes, there are many online resources that are willing to provide help," he explained. "The problem is actually trying to track them down."

Berge wanted a simpler solution.

"I began to think about ways to bring certain key websites and phone numbers to the forefront of our computers," he added.

Working with the ACC Chief Information Officer G-6 Web Development Team of contractors Steven Doty, Rod Waller and Alexandra "Alex" Crawford, they created the ACC CARES site. The pop-up has navigation buttons for the ACC Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention program, suicide prevention, the Military One Source and additional resources. Berge said Chap. (Lt. Col.) Paige K. Heard, ACC command chaplain; Toby Davis, attorney-advisor, Army Materiel Command Legal Center-Redstone Arsenal and Kim Green, ACC Sexual Harassment and Assault Response Program manager, also assisted in the project.

"If this tool serves even one person or family, it was worth the effort consolidating links to these important agencies in one location," Berge said.
