YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea - The holiday season has arrived. It's time to reflect on this past year and celebrate the season. From my family to you and yours: Happy Holidays!

My advice to you is to be responsible in your celebrations. As we review recent drinking and driving incidents, there has been a marked increase from last quarter, and also from the same time last year.

Folks, there is no room for error here. In Korea, the legal blood alcohol level is 0.05 percent. Depending on your size and weight, this means only one or two drinks. Know your limit. For some of you, this may mean no drinking at all.

If you think about the consequences, Driving Under the Influence is a non starter. I can tell you, I have no tolerance. If you are arrested for DUI, you will forfeit your driving privileges for one year.

Remember, this is not only about you. It's about the people you put in harm's way if you drive under the influence of alcohol.

If you know you have a problem, we have the resources at USAG-Yongsan to help you. Whether you are military or civilian, we have solutions in place through the Army Substance Abuse Program or the Employee Assistance Program. For information, contact Vanessa Mitchell at 736-5187.

Pass the word. Tell your friends to take a taxi or to get a designated driver. There is really no excuse for getting a DUI. I encourage you to be responsible and have a great holiday season!
