ANSBACH, Germany (April 14, 2015) -- U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach hosted a hometown baby shower Friday at the Von Steuben Community Center.
The event, sponsored by Army Community Service's Family Advocacy Program, was attended by expectant parents and parents of babies as old as six months.
Throughout the event, raffle tickets were pulled and community members received various prizes, including baby toys, books on child-rearing, and diaper cakes (a collection of new diapers arranged to look like a multi-tiered cake). The Ansbach Spouses' and Civilians' Club arranged the grand prize, a various collection of many baby items
Besides for there being a number of giveaways, several on-post services attended, including the New Parent Support Program; Women, Infants, Children; Educational and Developmental Intervention Services; Exceptional Family Member Program, the American Red Cross; Child, Youth and School Services; Breastfeeding Support; car seat safety checks and the public health nurse.
"Being the best parent you can be involves taking steps to strengthen your Family and finding support when you need it, and that's what this event is all about," said Mitchell Jones, USAG Ansbach deputy commander. "To provide the resources -- give you the knowledge, skills and support necessary to raise a happy, healthy child."
