Soldiers from the 65th Medical Brigade recently volunteered their time and efforts to assist a local orphanage in Namsanwon in Seoul, South Korea.

On March 27, 2015 as part of the monthly volunteer work program, some 20 members of the brigade attended to the needs of the orphanage by helping them with maintenance of the grounds, folding clothes, washing dishes, fixing broken furniture and various other tasks that needed to be done.

Cpl. Hanbit Lee, organizer of the volunteers, said, "Our purpose was to not only give care and help those in need but to develop friendships between our two nations."

The Namsanwon orphanage houses and educates some 51 children between the ages of three to 18.

Despite a language barrier and unexpected situations, Staff Sgt. Tywan Jones, a volunteer, felt the groups efforts were greatly appreciated. "Every time we go and accomplish something like this, it makes us proud to be in the Army. It's a worthwhile feeling."

By carrying on with volunteer work such as this, members of the 65th live up to alliance motto, 'Katchi Kapshida' (We Go Together).
