Fort Huachuca, Arizona - The 111th Military Intelligence Brigade conducted a convoy exercise Wednesday morning to help the brigade stay prepared in case of an emergency on Fort Huachuca.

Soldiers from the 304th, 305th and 309th Military Intelligence Battalions participated in the two-hour exercise. The convoy consisted of 16 vehicles that traveled from the brigade motor pool to lower Garden Canyon where they then turned around. Soldiers checked on the vehicles and rested briefly.

The convoy then continued along the same route back to the motor pool. "Essentially we are preparing for a potential evacuation in case of emergency in the future. So if there's a fire in Garden Canyon or any reason we have to help evacuate the residents of Fort Huachuca off post, this is to simulate us actually getting the vehicles ready and doing the convoy to support that," said 1st Lt. Scott Sikora, executive officer, Bravo-Company, 309th MI Bn.

"Right now the vehicles are empty. This is a notion of movement. We don't actually have anything that we're moving but this is just to validate the brigade's ability to coordinate within itself to accomplish [movement] as necessary," said Sikora.

"So really this is a training exercise so that we can do it faster in the future as well as just to make sure that we can do it well, if that situation does arise," he added.
