ANSBACH, Germany (March 25, 2015) -- Katterbach Army Health Clinic received recognition as an Army Star Strong facility Friday.

Brig. Gen. Norvell Coots, commanding general of European Region Medical Command, was the keynote speaker and presented the award to Lt. Col. Rodney Gonzalez, the commander of the Katterbach and Illesheim Army Health Clinics.

The clinic passed a rigorous set of qualifications through the Voluntary Protection Program and became the fourth of six health clinics in Bavaria Medical Command to achieve Army Star Strong status.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration established the Voluntary Protection Program to recognize workplaces that go above and beyond the basic compliance standards by employing an effective safety and health management system. These workplaces are identified as model sites, showing the employees, industry and the community that they are Army Strong in safety and health.

Katterbach Army Health Clinic was originally recognized as an Army Star Strong site Aug. 3, 2014. USAG Ansbach's Katterbach and Illesheim Army Health Clinic are Army Star Strong certified as are the health clinics in Vilseck and Hohenfels.
