WIESBADEN, Germany -- Col. Jimmy L. Hall Jr., U.S. Army Europe Chief Information Officer/G6, and Sgt. Maj. Ricardo Samudio, USAREUR G6 sergeant major, visited with signal Soldiers, leaders and exercise support staff at the 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command March 17-18, 2015 in Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels, Germany.
JMTC is the Army's largest overseas training command and provides realistic, tailor-made training solutions to U.S., NATO and partner-nation units and leaders, according to the JMTC website. Hall and Samudio received command information briefings and toured facilities and exercise sites to evaluate communications and network requirements necessary to support training and daily operations at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels.
"Strong Europe is in how we support the exercises and operations necessary to build a trained and ready force," Hall said during a meeting with the 102nd Signal Battalion's Network Enterprise Center at Hohenfels.
In Grafenwoehr Hall and Samudio spoke with Brig. Gen. Randy A. George, deputy commanding general, 4th Infantry Division, about network and communications support for 4ID's deployment as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve. Hall said there were some issues of interoperability to be worked out between services, Allies and within the Army as well, and emphasized the need for USAREUR G6 to address the communications requirements of rotating units and NATO Regionally Aligned Forces.
"It's about deterrence and support for our Allies, and demonstrating our commitment to NATO and to building a Strong Europe," Hall said of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
In a lunch meeting with Soldiers from the 44th Expeditionary Signal Battalion at the dining facility in Grafenwoehr, Hall said, "Not a day goes by when I don't hear about the great work you're doing here. I appreciate it, and if (Lt.) General Hodges were here, I know he would say the same."
In a similar lunch meeting with signal Soldiers in Hohenfels, Samudio said, "What you do day to day allows the rest of the Army to complete its mission. Please know what you're doing is incredibly important, and we're very appreciative of it."
