Army Warrior Trials include Soldier and Veteran athletes who will face off in archery, basketball, cycling, track and field, swimming, shooting, sitting volleyball and wheelchair basketball. Participants include athletes with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, visual impairment, serious illnesses and amputations.

The Army Trials is much more than a competition, according to Brig. Gen. Robert Tenhet, commanding general, Northern Regional Medical Command. "Army Medicine plays an important role in helping our wounded, ill and injured Soldiers but what I have seen during our Army Regional Trials at Fort Belvoir last month highlights the power of resilience and the individual determination to overcome illness and injury."

"The determination, strength and resilient spirit displayed by these men and women serves an excellent example of what it means to be 'Army Strong.'" "Regardless of whether they are selected to represent the Army in the Warrior Games, they have already claimed victory over adversity," Tenhet said.

NRMC Army Trials participants represent warrior transition units at Fort Belvoir, Va.; Fort Bragg, N.C.; Fort Eustis, Va.; Fort Knox, Ky.; and Naval Support Activity-Bethesda, Md.

Following the conclusion of the Army Trials, coaches and leaders will assess the results and athletes selected for the Department of Defense Warrior Games 2015 Army Team will receive an official invitation. The Department of Defense Warrior Games are slated for June 19-28, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia.
