ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- Command Sgt. Maj. Walton Jones and his family were officially welcomed to the Joint Munitions Command during an Assumption of Responsibility Ceremony held, here, February 11.

Command Sgt. Maj. Jones assumed his duties as the senior enlisted advisor by receiving the command's colors from Brig. Gen. Kristin K. French, JMC commanding general.

As JMC's command sergeant major, Jones will serve as the commander's 'right arm' and assist Brig. Gen. French in supporting the ammunition mission as a logistician.

"I am looking forward to working with Command Sgt. Maj. Jones," said Brig. Gen. French. "He is a great addition to the Joint Munitions Command and the Rock Island Arsenal community."

In addition Brig. Gen. French thanked Command Sgt. Maj. Anthony M. Bryant, who served as the senior enlisted advisor for the past two-and-a-half years. He recently started a new assignment at the Army Sustainment Command.

Many JMC staff, Quad City area community leaders and Rock Island Arsenal senior leaders attended to greet Command Sgt. Maj. Jones and his wife, Tena.

"I am honored and grateful to be here. As a senior logistician, I can't think of a more prestigious organization than the Joint Munitions Command," said Command Sgt. Maj. Jones in his closing remarks. "I look forward to visiting all of our commands, directorates, arsenals and depots to better understand how I can best assist and serve you."

Command Sgt. Maj. Jones is a native of Hammond, Louisiana. He has held a variety of leadership positions during his career ranging from instructor, First Sergeant, Garrison Sergeant Major, Division Transportation Sergeant Major, Battalion and Brigade Command Sergeant Major, and was the Commandant of the Joint Readiness Training Center, Non-Commissioned Officer Academy at Fort Polk, Louisiana, for three years prior to his assignment at Rock Island.
