ANSBACH, Germany (Feb. 5, 2015) -- One year after its official establishment, Outreach-KONTAKT Franken, U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach's German-American friendship club, gathered to elect its board members for the coming year.

Before the election process started, Dennis Gardner, the German president, showed members photos of the club from the past year and delivered a quick review.

The presentation was followed by the treasurer Florian Zeilinger, who informed the attendants of the club's current financial situation.

The club reelected several of the 2014 board members; some, however, resigned due to upcoming permanent changes of station or other moves. Gardner was reelected into the position of German president. Min Wendt, an Army spouse, is the new international president. Vice Presidents Michael Bergner (German) and Jessica Sowders (international) were confirmed in their positions. Zeilinger was also reelected as treasurer. Stefanie Bohl became the new secretary. The new advisory members are Dominika Miszczyk (German), Manfred Eschenbacher (German) and Stephen Wendt (international), and Bryan Gatchell was reconfirmed in his position as international advisory member.

The newly elected board has big plans for the coming year. Besides repeating popular events from 2014 like the summer barbecue, the holiday dinner and some weekend trips, there will be new activities added to the calendar, like a regular bowling evening or a trip to Franconian Switzerland.

Some of the highlights of 2014 included sports activities like kayaking, high ropes, wall climbing and laser tag. There were also family-oriented or just-for-fun events like a trip to the summer toboggan slide, a barbecue, a brewery tour and visits to local Christmas markets.

Club members wanted to demonstrate that their club is not only about fun and games. They organized a food donation drive for the local animal shelter and participated in the annual Ansbach city clean-up.

Special events like the Japanese Blossom Festival in Fürth, the USAG Ansbach community egg hunt, the Ansbach city fun run, the BOSS Memorial Day barbecue, Independence Day celebrations or USAG Ansbach's Halloween night added variety to the regularly scheduled activities and Stammtisch meetings.

Outreach-KONTAKT Franken is always open to new members. The regular meeting, called a "Stammtisch," is hosted twice a month and is an opportunity to get in touch with the club members in a casual environment. The Ansbach Stammtisch takes place at Adelbert-Pilipp-str. 42, Ansbach-Eyb, the first Tuesday of the month. The Herrieden Stammtisch happens at Marktplatz 4, Herrieden, the third Tuesday of the month. Each Stammtisch starts at 7 p.m., and both locations serve dinner.
