CAMP ZAMA, Japan (Feb. 4, 2015) -- Nearly 300 Camp Zama's community members attended the annual Super Bowl party Feb. 2 at Camp Zama Community Club.
"Super Bowl for the military is huge," said Randy Benton, manager of the Camp Zama Community Club.
Super Bowl XLIX (49) fans spent Monday morning cheering for their favorite teams while having breakfast, snacks and drinks provided by Camp Zama's Morale Welfare and Recreation.
"Even if your team is not playing, there is just something about the Super Bowl that brings out true football fans," said Benton.
Laura Fernandez, a party attendee, said she "loved" the atmosphere; people wearing their team shirts and jerseys, laughing and having a great time.
Allison Gorrell, tour manager of Pro Tour Productions, said the Camp Zama Super Bowl party is an annual Super Bowl military tour. "We come over here to Camp Zama to bring a little bit of home to the troops stationed here."
Four National Football League cheerleaders entertained the crowds with a half-time show. Camp Zama's community members also had an opportunity to take one-on-one photos with the cheerleaders.
Kristen, an Arizona Cardinals cheerleader, said, "It has been a very humbling experience."
The NFL Cheerleaders also spent time hosting a cheerleading camp at the Sagamihara Family Housing School Age Center from Jan. 29 to Jan. 31 prior to the Super Bowl party.
"We held a clinic for smaller children and youth members who are inspired to be NFL cheerleaders one day," said Kristen.
