CAMP ZAMA, Japan (Jan. 29, 2015) -- Senior commanders, leaders and directors of U.S. Army Japan and I Corps (Forward) and U.S. Army Garrison Japan attended the Community Health Promotion Council (CHPC) Jan. 26 inside the USAG-J Headquarters Building conference room.
Lt. Col. Johnny King III, chief of Health Promotion and Wellness, assigned to Public Health Command Region Pacific, said the CHPC is the strategic platform to implement the Army's Ready and Resilient Campaign within U.S. Army Japan.
King briefed the attendees on the procedures and steps of how to execute the Army's Ready and Resilient Campaign.
A broad range of health and resiliency related factors were discussed including Sexual Harassment/Assault Response Prevention (SHARP), Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness and substance abuse prevention and treatment.
King explained that the CHPC stood up to determine what issues exist for the different sub groups of our community including Soldiers, Family members, retirees, Department of Army Civilians, Local National Employees, Indirect Hire Agreement and Non- Appropriate Fund employees, and to develop the strategies.
"Everyone has an impact on our total mission readiness," said King.
Maj. Gen. James C. Boozer Sr., the commander of USARJ, signed the charter for the Camp Zama CHPC during the meeting.
"This council is going to serve as a strategic platform on how we are going to be able to best meet our community's needs here in Japan," said Boozer.
