PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. (Jan. 21, 2015) -- The U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center is welcoming a new acting director.

John Hedderich, ARDEC's current acting director, held his final town hall Jan. 21, where he thanked the Picatinny workforce for its hard work and introduced Dave Castellano, the new ARDEC acting director starting Jan. 26.

"I told you when I accepted the tour that it was an honor to sit in the [acting director] position and it really was," Hedderich said. "But the honor wasn't really the position. It was the fact that I could be the leader of a great workforce."

As future acting director, Castellano also discussed hiring restrictions and explained that Picatinny will participate in the Army's pilot program for Manage Workforce to Workload, which will help lift hiring restrictions once the program is approved by the Army Materiel Command.

AMC is the Army's premier provider of materiel readiness -- technology, acquisition support, materiel development, logistics power projection, and sustainment -- to the total force, across the spectrum of joint military operations.

"The bottom line is that no matter who is sitting in that [director] chair, John and I will always be there for you," Castellano said. "John did a fantastic job putting our ship in the right direction and we're going to continue doing that."

Post-government employment was another key topic during the town hall. The workforce was reminded of regulations that employees must consider when seeking new employment. For information, contact the ARDEC Legal Office and ask for Gerald Williams or Nancy Higgins (973) 724-6586).

RDECOM is a major subordinate command of the U.S. Army Materiel Command. AMC is the Army's premier provider of materiel readiness--technology, acquisition support, materiel development, logistics power projection and sustainment--to the total force, across the spectrum of joint military operations. If a Soldier shoots it, drives it, flies it, wears it, eats it or communicates with it, AMC provides it.
