Last WWI vet celebrates Veterans Day
Maj. Gen. Richard J. Rowe Jr. greets America's only known surviving World War I veteran, Frank Buckles, 107, at Arlington National Cemetery, Nov. 11. Rowe, who spoke at the gathering, spoke with Buckles and, with other well-wishers thanked him for his service and wished him full recovery from a recent bout with pneumonia. The Charles Town, W.Va., native entered the Army at age 16 and rose to the rank of corporal.
