SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Joint Functional Component Command for Integrated Missile Defense. Headquartered here, the command is tasked to implement U.S. Strategic Command's global synchronizer role for missile defense.

As USSTRATCOM's missile defense synchronizing entity, the JFCC IMD supports the warfighting community through the synchronization of plans, conducting operations support and training, integrating exercises and test activities, advocating for future capabilities, and protecting information systems and networks.

The JFCC IMD also partners with the Missile Defense Agency to ensure the Ballistic Missile Defense System is flexible and capable of adapting to threat changes.

Furthermore, the JFCC IMD leads the Nimble Titan Wargame, an international venue with more than 20 nations participating, which examines missile defense related policy and plans.

The command has established itself as a central location for missile defense subject matter expertise and an "honest broker" for missile defense-related advocacy and global force management. The JFCC IMD is the Joint Functional Manager for missile defense, providing analysis and recommendations for the posturing of missile defense assets globally.

Since its creation in 2005, the JFCC IMD has twice been awarded the Joint Meritorious Unit Award for contributions made in the defense of the United States, American deployed forces, friends and allies.
