YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea - Seoul American High School Falcons celebrated a big win over the Kadena Panthers Saturday to take the Department of Defense Dependent School Class AA Championship title 22-21.

Kadena was the reigning champion, giving Seoul the "underdog" status.

Hundreds of Yongsan community members turned out at the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Field adjacent to the high school to enthusiastically watch the game.

Seoul American's "Most Valuable Player" Willie Brown returned an interception for a touchdown and also recovered a fumble to set up the game-winning TD. Fellow senior Trinidai Stansel ran for two TDs.

"This time, I expected it be a dogfight, and it was everything I expected it to be," Falcon Coach Julian Harden said of the Kadena Panthers in a Stars & Stripes interview.

"For those of us attending Saturday's game, we were treated to a wonderful weekend of fall football at its best," said SAHS Principal Robert Sennett. "The top 25 players from their respective schools played under perfect weather, full stands and were treated to an inspiring game that held all engaged until the last cannon shot."

Sennett said the game showed true school spirit.

"Congratulations also needs to be extended to all who attended Saturday's game - players and fans alike -for their fantastic display of sportsmanship" Sennett said. "It truly was a day to remember, for as spectators we don't often get to witness our finest teams in these final events. It surely reflected positively on our students, our school and our community."
