WIESBADEN, Germany -- Command Sgt. Maj. David S. Davenport Sr. has been selected to be the next command sergeant major of Training and Doctrine Command.
Davenport, currently the command sergeant major at U.S. Army Europe, will replace Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel A. Dailey, who was recently named as the next Sergeant Major of the Army.
"Gen. Perkins [the TRADOC commanding general] has made an excellent choice," said Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, USAREUR commanding general. "Command Sgt. Maj. Davenport is absolutely the right NCO for the job. He is setting the standard for NCO development and for working with our allied and partner NCOs. He is also a great team builder and trainer. Our Warrior Leader Course is a prime example of that."
Davenport entered the Army in June, 1983. During his more than 30-year career he has served in every enlisted leadership position from cavalry scout and tank commander, to his current position as command sergeant major.
"Command Sgt. Maj. Davenport is a great sergeant who followed the Army system and worked hard to get where he is today," Hodges said. "His selection should serve as an inspiration to every young NCO in the Army."
TRADOC, headquartered at Fort Eustis, Virginia, is responsible for recruiting and training Soldiers, supporting unit training, developing Soldier and civilian leaders, develops Army doctrine, builds and integrates formations, capabilities and materiel. The command has six major subordinate centers and commands, and oversees 32 Army schools.
