ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Maryland--An industry day and pre-solicitation conference for the responsive strategic sourcing for services indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract was presented by members of the Army Contracting Command -- Aberdeen Proving Ground here Dec. 16.

Approximately 600 industry representatives attended either the morning or afternoon sessions to obtain information regarding contract objectives, walk through the draft solicitation and review questions and answers.

The RS3 contract, with an expected ceiling of $37 billion, will support requirements related to command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, according to Katherine "Katie" Thompson, ACC-APG's Division B contract specialist. The contract will be a compilation of five contracts that are either expiring or planned for eventual sunset. The five contracts include:

• Strategic services sourcing, $19.25 billion

• Rapid response -- third generation, $16.4 billion

• Warrior enabling broad sensor , $1.78 billion

• Technical information engineering services, $994 million

• Technical, administrative, operations support services, $497 million

"The RS3 contract will fill the void for various expiring IDIQ contracts and will provide ACC-APG customers with one contract vehicle that offers streamlined processes," said Thompson. "This contract will ensure that the government has access to contractors with capabilities to successfully perform C4ISR missions."

This industry day provided a review of the current draft solicitation and the final solicitation is expected to be approved and released in February. This release will be followed by industry proposal submissions and the contract award which is planned for July.
