The 926th Contracting Support Battalion officially accepted authority for the contract administration services mission in Kuwait during a Dec. 11 ceremony.

Lt. Col. Derek Draper, commander of the 926th accepted the transfer of authority from Lt. Col. Kelley McIntyre, commander, Consolidated Defense Contract Management Agency Kuwait and Iraq. Draper's team team will provide contract administration for the U.S. Central Command's contracting administration support mission previously provided by DCMA.

In his ceremony remarks, Draper thanked McIntyre and her DCMA teammates and talked about the road ahead.

"We are excited about the mission we will be performing and look forward to building upon the success of DCMA with a focus on quality assurance to enable the Army to get the services and supplies to carry out its mission," Draper said. "The contracts we will administer are crucial to the Army's mission in the area of operations. Our mission is to ensure the Army receives the contracted services and supplies to carry out its mission. We will hold the contractors accountable to the terms and conditions of the contracts and protect the government's interests ensuring we are getting the value out of the awarded contracts. "

The CCAS mission entails contract administration duties ensuring that supplies and services are delivered in accordance with the terms of their contracts.

According to Draper, the 926th prepared for the mission by training on the 105 delegable tasks covering administrative contract officer duties, quality assurance and property administration.

"Our CCAS mission will encompass about $6 billion in contracts," Draper pointed out. " We look forward to expanding our culture from a primary focus on pre-award and obligation of dollars to contract administration."
