407th AFSBn-Hood receives award for community efforts, fiscal savings

FORT HOOD, Texas -- The 407th Army Field Support Battalion-Hood, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, was recognized with an award for its contributions to the community.

The battalion was presented with a Fort Hood Hero Award in the "Outstanding Commitment to a Job -- Team" category by Lt. Gen. Sean MacFarland, III Corps commanding general, at an awards ceremony Nov. 12.

The battalion, consisting of 147 Soldiers and civilian employees, was cited for saving Fort Hood units $225,686 in maintenance-related costs, $461,924 in proper supply purchases and training more than 883 Soldiers and officers from July -- September. The total cost savings was $687,610.
