The Army Contracting Command-Warren, Michigan, Systems and Information Management Division kicked off the holiday season giving back to the local community by volunteering at a local community food bank.

The group helped the food bank distribute boxes of food to local families in need for the Thanksgiving holiday. According to Erica Allbritton, chief, eCommerce and Knowledge Management Team ACC-Warren, the division has supported the non-profit organization for years.

"Some time ago we decided we wanted to give back to the community," Allbritton said. "We initially adopted a single mother and her five children for Christmas."

Allbritton said the group wanted to do more but felt asking individuals to donate personal funds wasn't feasible.

"We decided doing community service would be a way to give back to the community and also provide an opportunity for us to team-build together."

Familiar with the work done by the food bank, she said the division decided it would be a great place to volunteer its time. "This serves as our community service activity for the holiday season," Allbritton said.
