KAISERSLAUTERN , Germany -- Contracting Soldiers are in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

Operation Atlantic Resolve is a U.S. Army Europe lead exercise that demonstrates a commitment to the collective security of NATO allies, in light of the on-going Russian intervention in Ukraine.

Soldiers from the 928th Contingency Contracting Battalion, Grafenwoehr, Germany, are on hand to support the 1st Cavalry Division's 1st Brigade Combat Team, Fort Hood, Texas.

"The purpose of our site visit to the Baltic countries is to conduct quality assurance of active contracts." said Capt. William Bass, warranted contracting officer, 928th CCBn. "We are also here to ensure that the unit receives quality and timely support so that they can continue to focus on mission objectives without any disturbance due to life support issues," said Bass.

Bass said the 928th CCBn. contracting mission includes working with the Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian, and Estonian armies, and coordinating, through across service agreements, contracting solutions that will enhance the quality of life for rotational units within the Baltic region.

"Working with 1-1 Cav. in conjunction with our host nation partners across the Baltic region has been a great experience," said Staff. Sgt. Johnathan Robbins, 928th CCBn. contracting specialist.

The contracting officers are responsible for establishing contract solutions in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. Part of their objectives is to coordinate brigade contracting officer representative training, execute field ordering officer training, and award contracts required to support mission commands overall mission throughout the Baltic region.

"Capt. Bass and Staff Sgt. Robbins routinely coordinate with U.S. embassies across the Baltics, the NATO Support Agency, the U.S. Army Europe staff, and other Department of Defense agencies in an effort to render outstanding support to the Soldiers in the field," said Lt. Col. Robert Murray, 928thcommander.

According to Bass, the coordination will help far beyond the exercise.

"We are committed to ensuring that we have flexible long-term contracted solutions that will support rotational units that will participate in Operation Atlantic Resolve and the multitude of training exercises that are planned over the next year within the Baltic region," said Bass.
