Command Sgt. Maj. Robert J. Riti was born and raised in Yonkers, New York. He joined the Army on February 23, 1978 and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

He is a Captain with the Westchester County, New York, Department of Corrections and has been employed there since September 1985. He is currently the commander of the Department's Training Unit and specializes in Firearms, Chemical Agents and Legal Issues.

He has two children, Nicole who is a recreational therapist and Bobby, who plans on joining the Army and attending Ranger school after graduating high school.
