REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala.-The U.S. Army Contracting Command's 742nd Contingency Contracting Team departed Huntsville International Airport Nov. 16, on a nine-month deployment to Kuwait and Qatar.

The unit is part of the 921st Contingency Contracting Battalion. The 921st is part of the ACC-Redstone contracting center. While deployed they will be attached to 926th Contingency Contracting Battalion, which deployed earlier this month from ACC-Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

According to Lt. Col. Margaret "Peggy" Sharpnack, 921st commander, the team will provide contract administration for the U.S. Central Command's contracting administration support mission, which was previously provided by the Defense Contract Management Agency.

"The 742nd CCT is leading the way for all of our contracting teams as part of the first battalion to support this exciting new mission for ACC," said Sharpnack. "They have developed and executed a sound training plan, and thoroughly studied the contracts. We couldn't be more proud."

Sharpnack went on to explain that this particular team was selected out of four available teams in the battalion due to its experience level and technical capability.
