CAMP ZAMA, Japan (Nov. 10, 2014) -- Lt. Col. Thaddeus Underwood, commander of 78th Signal Battalion, signed the pledge of sponsorship Nov. 6 to re-adopt Arnn Elementary School, here.

About 20 Soldiers and Civilians from 78th SB gathered inside the school's cafeteria, along with the school staff and students to witnessed Underwood sign the pledge.

Cpt. Samuel Sellers, assigned to 78th SB, who participated in the signing ceremony said, "We (have) sponsored Arnn Elementary for the past six years."

Soldiers from the 78th SB act as school volunteers whenever the task is needed.

Another participant, Cpt. Thomas Stowe, assigned to 78th SB, explained that 78th SB Soldiers have been participating in Arnn's Field Day, Science Fair, Ice Cream Socials, and any other supporting roles that are needed from the school or PTA.

"We renew our commitment every two years," said Stowe. "We enjoy the time that we get to spend with the children and enjoy supporting the community."
