ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- The U.S. Army Sustainment Command Combined Federal Campaign period this year began Oct. 9 and continues through Dec. 15.

Maj. Gen. Kevin O'Connell, commanding general, ASC, made his contribution in ASC headquarters at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, Nov. 6.

"CFC is a way to give back to people in more need than we are," O'Connell said. "As Soldiers and DA (Department of the Army) civilians, we are fortunate to be able to share, and as a community, we are generous in giving back."

ASC's CFC contributions exceeded $40,000 as of Nov. 5.

"We're halfway to our goal," O'Connell said. "Let's push to finish strong."

In 2012, ASC raised nearly $80,000 for CFC charities; in 2013, nearly $50,000.

"The mission of the CFC is to support and to promote philanthropy through a voluntary program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all," said Mia Eddy, a management analyst for ASC, and loaned executive for the unit's 2014 CFC program.
