PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. (October 28, 2014) -- Approximately 95 first-year cadets visited Picatinny Arsenal Oct. 15-16 to better understand the practical applications of their curriculum on the battlefield. The cadets are enrolled in an advanced general chemistry course at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
During their two-day visit, the cadets toured the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development Engineering Center's (ARDEC) facilities. These ARDEC facilities included the Explosive Characterization Lab, Synthesis and Surveillance Lab, Nanotechnology Lab, Advanced Materials Laboratory, Pyrotechnics facility, as well as the Propellant Processing and Rheology Lab
In addition, the cadets received an overview of ARDEC and its mission to the warfighter. They expressed interest in ARDEC and future mentoring opportunities for senior projects and summer rotations.
