The Medical Department Activity of Korea (MEDDAC-K) held an assumption of command ceremony in the Asian Gardens of the Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital Oct. 16, 2014.

Cpt. Celencia D. Guillory accepted the guidon from Col. Mark M. Reeves, 121 Combat Support Hospital and Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital commander, during the tradition filled ceremony.

Activated in 2009, MEDDAC-K is tasked with providing logistical support to Dental Command-Korea, and Public Health Command District-Korea and other associated activities which are responsible for providing health services and providing armistice healthcare for beneficiaries.

The Round Rock, Texas native was honored and humbled upon being selected to serve as the company commander. "It is a critical time in the unit's history to be given the opportunity to make history and perform with outstanding Soldiers and non-commissioned officers," said Guillory.

"MEDDAC-K, you are getting an awesome leader," said Reeves. "She has served as an assistant S1, executive officer and platoon leader for a dental command at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, member of the 759th Forward Surgical Team with the 28th Combat Support Hospital, assistant S3 and chief of logistics planning with the 44th Medical Brigade."

Reeves praised Guillory for her embodiment of the Army's core values and the humility she has to challenge herself to always be better.

"Despite being a young staff officer, leading in all capacities," Reeves said, "She is not afraid to do things and her judgment is spot on. A stellar officer with a story career that will lead each and every one of you in ways you will appreciate and become better Soldiers."

"I want to thank the command for bestowing trust and confidence upon me to take command," said Guillory, a Webster University graduate. "Anyone would be naïve to think they are ever 100 percent ready to take command and I want to emphasize my personal commitment to lead as I know how every day."
