Members of the U.S. Army Contracting Command -- Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, visited the Association of the United States Army's annual meeting and exposition at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center Oct. 13-15.

"This exposition gives contracting personnel an opportunity to see first-hand the technologies made available to the warfighter through their contracting actions," said Bryon J. Young, ACC-APG's executive director. "The theme of this year's event was 'Trusted Professionals -- Today and Tomorrow' which represents the role of contracting personnel within the Army."

On the second day of the show, Gwen Meadows, contracting officer, ACC-APG, served as a member of a small-business panel discussing contracting opportunities to a small-business audience.

"The AUSA conference, and specifically the small-business panel, was an amazing opportunity for the government and small-business representatives to interact and have an open dialogue about how we can be better business partners," said Meadows. "To be a part of that as a contracting officer was an amazing experience and I took great pride in the fact that I was able to make a contribution to that partnership."

ACC-APG members also participated in the Army Ten Miler, which kicked off the AUSA events Oct. 12. Among the runners, a six-member team from the Belvoir Contracting Division wore yellow T-shirts with the inscription, 'We Run FAR and Fast' with a play on the word FAR representing the Federal Acquisition Regulation.

The AUSA annual meeting is the largest land-power exposition and professional development forum in North America with more than 500 Army and industry exhibitors, according to the 2014 AUSA exposition website.
