ARMY TEN-MILER: Fort Benning takes first in mixed division

FORT BENNING, Ga., (Oct. 15, 2014) -- Fort Benning's Army Ten-Miler team placed first out of 52 mixed division teams in the 30th annual Army Ten-Miler Oct. 12 in Washington, D.C.

The Benning team is comprised of four men and two women who competed during preliminary qualifiers for the opportunity to represent the Maneuver Center of Excellence.

Team captain Adam Patten, Soldier Division, Capabilities Development and Integration Directorate, said the team's goal was to run a combined time of three hours and 45 minutes. They ran a time of three hours and 42 minutes, putting them in 11th place overall of 633 teams.

He said they ran faster than he planned.

"I was very proud," Patten said.

Kendall Ward, Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course - 31st place, 51:48

Brett Carter, Armor Basic Officer Leader Course - 49th place, 53:20

Gerard Sclafani, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment - 82nd place, 55:37

Robert Brown, 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry Regiment, - 159th place, 58:30

Ashley (Urick) Hall, Martin Army Community Hospital - 304th place, 1:01:42 (6th place overall in her division)

Rysper Sirma, 463rd Medical Company - 1203rd place, 1:10:30 (20th place overall in her division)
