CAMP HUMPHREYS -- Zoeckler Field was covered in children, participating in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Day for Children event, sponsored by Children, Youth and School Services, Sept. 27. The day featured games, activities, demonstrations, music and free food for all in attendance. Unlike many countries, America does not have an official day to celebrate its children. BGCA, along with the support of youth-serving organizations, is working to change that by establishing a Saturday in September each year as the Day for Kids. Created as a day to foster relationships between adults and children, the mission of BGC Day for Kids is to establish a day to celebrate and honor American children through the gift of meaningful time. Research shows that when adults spend meaningful time with kids, it helps them develop a positive self-image and a sense of belonging, usefulness and purpose. Events like this provide families with an opportunity to take a break from their busy lives and spend time together. -- U.S. Army photos by Steven Hoover
