SCHINNEN, Netherlands - Trunk or Treat 2009 is almost will be held Friday, Oct. 30, 5:30 to 7 p.m. and the USAG Schinnen staff is gearing up to make this annual on-base event one that the entire tri-border community can enjoy.

Trunk or Treat has become a very popular event that draws participants from the entire tri-border region. Its great value-for-money and fun for the whole family. It features lots of games for the kids, a haunted house, free bowling at the Schinnen bowling Center and of course, the always popular Aca,!A"Trunk or Treat Trail.Aca,!A? This Aca,!A"essential guideAca,!A? will help you make the most of this great event, so please Aca,!" read on!

To make the event safe and fun for everyone we need the communityAca,!a,,cs cooperation by using the overflow SSO park lot, which opens 4 p.m. Please refer to the pictures above. A FREE bus service is in operation 4 to 8:30 p.m. with continuous service to/from the SSO parking area and the AAFES Food Court on USAG Schinnen.

Use of the SSO parking area, which is located off the base, helps minimize the traffic on the base and makes it safer for hundreds of Trunk-or-Treaters.

There is a nominal fee of $2 or Ac'A!2 per person (your choice) to participate in Trunk or Treat. The fee allows children to collect candy at all the treat stops, visit the haunted house, and participate in arts, crafts, and games in the Community Activity Center. Free "cosmic bowling" is also provided for children under 12 years old from 5 to 8 p.m.

Customers who are not participating in Trunk or Treat will be permitted to access the installation through the front gate. The military police will restricting parking and traffic flow starting 4 p.m. and direct Trunk or Treat participants to the SSO parking area. The Trunk or Treat path opens at 5:30 p.m., so instead of coming early just to park on the base, please consider using the SSO parking lot and the FREE bus service to avoid a long wait.

The bus service will include escorts who will make guest access onto USAG Schinnen smooth by checking ID cards. Look for the red, white and blue canopy to pay admission fee.

Trunk or Treat 2009 is open to all US/NATO I.D. cardholders, Dutch MoD employees, their guests as well as local citizens. Dutch MoD guests and local citizens must register with the USAG Schinnen Public Affairs Office by calling 046-443-7331 or by sending an email to paousagshi@eur.army.mil no later than noon Oct. 29.
