WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Hiring Our Heroes program, with support from private industry, will host two veterans' transition summits next month; one in U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria, Nov. 5-6, and the other at Ramstein Air Base, Nov. 3.

The summits will feature seminars, panel events, recruiter training, a job fair, discussions designed to improve competitive employment for service members, veterans and their spouses, and, of course, networking opportunities.

"The most valuable asset our military has is our Soldiers," said Joseph Panteloglous, director of Human Resources, U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria. "Helping Soldiers during their transition from military to civilian life is our duty and an honor."

This is the first time Hiring Our Heroes will host a hiring event outside of the United States.

"This marks an extraordinary step for Hiring Our Heroes, to be able to help the men and women who are serving our country thousands of miles from home," said Eric Eversole, vice president at the U.S. Chamber and executive director of Hiring Our Heroes.

"Transitioning from the military is made even more challenging when you've been serving abroad, and these summits will go a long way toward helping service members and their spouses with that process," Eversole said.

The current schedule for USAG Bavaria includes:

Nov. 5:

4-5 p.m. Employer and attendee registration

5-6:30 p.m. Panel discussion

6:30- 8 p.m. Networking event

Nov. 6:

8:30-10 a.m. Employer and job seeker registration

10-11:30 a.m. Panel discussion

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Employment workshops and lunch

1-4 p.m. Hiring fair (featuring federal, state agencies and nonprofits)

The event at each installation will culminate with a Hiring Our Heroes job fair, where service members will be given the opportunity to step into HireVue's video interviewing booths to "tell their story" and demonstrate to employers why they will be a great fit for a potential job opportunity.

The two summits are being hosted in partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Army, and the American Chamber of Commerce -- European Union.

This will mark the sixth and seventh Veterans Jobs Summits that Hiring Our Heroes has hosted with its public sector and military partners. These events represent an unprecedented collaboration of private and public sector efforts and resources toward one common goal: connecting transitioning service members to employers.

Hiring Our Heroes is a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment.

Working with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's vast network of state and local chambers and other strategic partners from the public, private and nonprofit sectors, Hiring Our Heroes has helped hundreds of thousands of veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. And as a direct result of more than 780 job fairs in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia, 24,000 men and women have been hired by more than 1,500 businesses.

The organizers of the event recommend registering online prior to the event at the link provided at the top right section of this article.
