YONGSAN GARRISON, Seoul, South Korea -- Eighth Army Deputy Commanding General (Sustainment) Brig. Gen. Chris R. Gentry got hands-on, cooking food for Soldiers at the Yongsan Honors Café Dining Facility Wednesday Sept. 17.

After a mandatory stop at a hand-wash station BG Gentry donned a plastic apron, cap and a pair of plastic gloves.

After a tour of the kitchen the General was put on grill duty. His first task, grilled cheese.

"The impact of General Gentry's visit is tremendous for our food-service Soldiers," said Chief Warrant Officer 2 Arnetra Hughes the 1st Signal Brigade Food Advisor.

"Seeing a one-star general get his hands dirty, get involved in what they do, it brings him closer to them, it makes them feel like somebody is paying attention to how hard they work," Hughes added.

Once the cooking was completed Soldiers, Korean staff and the General lined up for lunch. He did not forget to grab one of the grilled cheese's he cooked.

This is one of several visits to the DFAC by Gentry.

"During General Gentry's last visit we identified a few manpower issues that have since been resolved and he wanted to come back to ask the Soldiers how they feel about the improvements," Hughes said.

"We are doing our best to make this the best dining facility in Korea and the center of the Yongsan community," added Hughes.

Another example of how Eighth Army is getting stronger every day.
