To mark the 13th anniversary of 9/11, Soldiers from the Army Contracting Command-Warren raised the flag at a local elementary school assembly.

Maj. Daniel Ramos, assistant product manager, PM Self-Propelled Howitzer, organized a number of ACC-Warren, Michigan, Soldiers to assist in the 9/11 remembrance ceremony at Rochester McGregor Elementary School in Rochester. The Soldiers raised the American flag which flew at half-staff to honor of the victims of the 2001 attacks.

After the assembly, the Soldiers stood outside the front door of the school and high-fived students as they returned to their classrooms.

"I think the students got a kick out of the entire event and I know the Soldiers enjoyed it," said Lt. Col. John Cooper, 923rd Contingency Contracting Battalion commander. "I'm very proud of the team for reaching out and working to become involved in the community. I've personally challenged each Soldier to find ways to engage with the community, particularly in the schools, to be a positive role model and to demonstrate our professionalism, character and values."

Cooper mentioned that a teacher came up to the Soldiers after the assembly and told them that one student said the event was the "coolest thing ever" and that he was never going to wash his hand.
