WASHINGTON (Sept. 5, 2014) -- The Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington officially kicked off the 2014 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) with Maj. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan, JFHQ-NCR/MDW commanding general being the first to contribute in the command at Fort Lesley J. McNair.

The CFC is the largest and most successful workplace fundraising campaign in the world. Over the past 50 years, the CFC has raised $7 billion to help neighbors in need around the corner, across the nation and throughout the world. The campaign runs from September 1 through December 15.

"The CFC is the world's largest and most successful workplace giving program," said Pete G. Rossi, Department of Defense (DoD) Loaned Executive for the 2014 CFC season. "I believe this year's campaign offers federal employees the opportunity to pay it forward. It's about doing the right thing for our communities."

According to the CFC, for the second year, the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) has a CFC Module in myPay. This offers DoD active duty and civilian employees, as well as employees at other Federal Departments serviced by DFAS, the choice of making a CFC payroll deduction pledge on-line.

MyPay is a convenient, user-friendly automated system that gives employees direct control over key payroll and personnel information without having to use forms or visit a personnel or payroll office.

"It's about Quality, Choice, and Convenience," said Rossi. "Quality -- strict oversight to maintain program integrity, Choice -- there are more than 24,000 charities, and Convenience -- payroll deduction via myPay."

In 2013, federal employees made this success possible by raising more than $51 million -- funds that provided promising futures, an improved world, and better communities.
