President Barack Obama and Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas spoke to American paratroopers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade and Estonian soldiers from the Estonian Defense Forces' Single Scouts Battalion during a troop event held Sep. 3 in Tallinn, Estonia. During his visit Obama reminded the troops of their significant role while training together in the region, stating, "You are sending a powerful message that as NATO allies we stand together … we stand as one." The 173rd Airborne Brigade is currently conducting combined training missions in Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, an exercise dedicated to demonstrating commitment to NATO obligations and maintaining interoperability with allied forces.
